If you want my business:
DON’T leave me a cold call email message with your pitch asking ME to call YOU back.
DO – woo me. Send me something fun in the mail.
DON’T schedule a WebEx meeting with me and then bore me with your slides with phrases like “Drive results with highly targeted campaigns that work together seamlessly”
DO get to the point. Speak to me like I’m a friend. Let your guard down a bit. Get off the script.
DON’T call me on your cell phone when you’re making a presentation.
DO call me from your home phone and let me hear your dog barking in the background. Cuz we could bond over that.
Just sayin’………

…and when we say, “something fun in the mail,” we don’t mean one sheet of letterhead that has been sent in a 9×12 envelope. It’s not fun, and it just shows us how hard you tried to be inefficient.

Great list of my pet peeves with vendors. Please forgive me, but I’ll add one more…
DON’T just drop by for a few minutes to introduce yourself without an appointment. You are requesting I adjust my busy schedule on a moment notice. I can (and will) do that for a member or co-worker…but not for a vendor I’ve never met. You are wasting my time, and ultimately your time, because you’ve already started off on the wrong foot.
DO call or drop a postcard in the mail requesting no more than 15 minutes of my time, at my convenience, for a brief presentation of your product. Let me know up-front how it can benefit my CU and members. And don’t tell me “it’s a great way to get your name out there.” There are a million ways to do that. How will your product/service differentiate my CU from other financial institutions.
(Sorry that was so long. Whew…I feel better!)

I’m so glad you were able to get that off your chest and couldn’t agree more

On the dog barking. Absolutely. My personal home security system (also known as Roxie, a poodle mix with an underbite) often goes off during phone calls.
Telecommuting is so fun!
