I named one of my dogs Dexter Morgan Wymore Sadowski. And I realized today that I seldom call him Dexter. In fact I only refer to him by his formal name when I introduce him. Here’s what I generally say:
Buddy!
Buddy boy!
Big Boy!
Buster Brown!
Dookie Howser! (when he poops in the house)
My Buddy Bear!
Dexie!
Is this normal? Do people do this with their human kids?

I didnt know you were having or had surery! Looks like from all this blogging you’re doing great! Gotta love Buddy Boy. For some strange reason Bernie has Become Bernstein (more formal) and Bailey has become Bae Bae (less formal) First of all what is normal and secondly these are our kids!!!! get well!!!

“Hey Handsome….”
“Sweetie, do you mind if…”
Although, if I do call him by his name, I get a quicker response. Hearing “Tom” creates a sense of urgency…or it indicates that I’m introducing him.
Funny, even when I’m not at the office, it’s still all about knowing your audience and choosing the right language. Darn marketing background.

Now I’m all about the “boy girl combo” nicknames for Dexter and Emma.
Like “Hey Captain and Tennille – let’s go outside and go potty.”
