I was in Lincoln City, Oregon this past week-end. Did some work with the Chinook Winds Casino. A great bunch of people and the nation’s “Sexiest” Tribal Casino. You should check it out.
After the gig, I got in the elevator to check into my ocean front suite. On the wall was an announcement:
The band Foreigner is coming to the casino this month.
Sponsored by……wait for it……. AARP.
Sigh………

Many of my favorite bands now play at The (Wisconsin) Dells instead of the much larger Madison venues they played in my youth. But the fact that AARP is sponsoring Foreigner? That really hurts!

I knew I was getting old when I heard Led Zep in a Caddy commercial!
There is hope though… my kids love classic rock and the music from “my era” I remember that I hated big band and the 50’s crooners when I was their age (but I do like it now) We have hope… Billy Joel, Elton John, Bob Seger, The Stones and The Boss are still going strong!!!

How can the band that brought the world “Jukebox Hero” and “I’ve Been Waiting for a Girl Like You” possibly be sponsored by AARP?!!!
I listened to Foreigner 4 a hundred times when I got it.
You have to hand it to AARP, though. They are priming us early 40-somethings and showing they aren’t just for the Geritol crowd.
